Looking for a nature walk? I highly recommend Horse Hill Nature Preserve in Merrimack, NH.
The 500+ acre property has nicely maintained trails, streams, ponds and swamps. Sam and I went with four of our five kids and Sam’s dog, Maisel. The mosquitos kept us walking fast – definitely pack the bug spray! With all the rain we’ve had, the mosquitos were a pain (literally).
Trailhead parking is available at 184 Amherst Rd. Merrimack, NH. There is a Little Free Library in the lot, good to know if you have some books to pass one! There is also a little “pick-your-own” blueberry farm across the street if you need to pick up a snack.

Pack a lunch and have a picnic at Lastowka Pond and watch the beavers hard at work.
The 4.41 mile Loop Trail takes you by a pond where there is an active beaver family. We saw two of them swimming around, hard at work on their den.

The Loop Trail is nicely maintained.
The town provides printed maps at the trail head. That is a bonus for the directionally challenged folks (me included!). They also have a version available on the website.
